ZANZIBAR THROUGH OUR EYES
WELCOME TO ZANZIBAR
Zanzibar has some of the bluest waters we have ever encountered, an endless expanse of vibrant turquoise that stretches to the horizon. Traditional dhow boats, with their graceful sails, cross the horrizon. Leaving with this memory, a photo that feels straight out of a postcard.
Let me introduce you to Macura, our east African muse. We scouted Macura on the streets as she was traveling to Zanzibar from her home country Uganda. The way she carried her self in Akoia and expressed her beauty through her confidence. and most importlantly the friendship we created till today.
Along the shore, the palm trees gently cool the breeze, their leaves casting playful shadows on the soft, white sands.
The low tide can stretch out as far as one kilometer on full or new moons, it's so interesting to see the contrast in the water as the tide changes so fast. Its like I have never seen before and a fun fact of Zanzibar.
The streets full of color and bananas, bringing life to every corner. Fruit shops overflow with tropical —juicy mangoes, ripe pineapples, and plantains —filling the air with their sweet aromas.
The smiles of kids . The warmth of the island is reflected in its people. Rich open and loving culture. Kids always wanting to get to know you and jump in your pics.
In Zanzibar, the ocean it’s an integral part of life, especially for the children. You’ll often find kids laughing and enjoying the water, full of joy. The elder Tanzanian men are very dedicated to go fishing everyday, For them, their sea is abundant.
Zanzibar is a place where love flourishes, because of the confidence between the African man and women.
Its a open lifestyle and romantic sunsets.
We got the opportunity to visit the Massaii people on the main land of Tanzania, Living by rite of passage as warriors, known as the “Emorata.” harmony with nature, and culture.
The Masaii men usually wear these red handmade sarongs and they come to Zanzibar from the main land to sell there traditional crafts. This photos of Macura and the masaii jewlwery she bought to support them.
The yummy street food of Zanzibar, people selling a lot of cashews, fruit, and coconuts along the beach.. everybody is hustling and working hard to sell amazing snacks from their home land. Hands down the juiciest cashews I have tried.
A big part of the Zanzibar island life is the women working with the seaweed, all day when the tide would start to go down the women would be planting and harvesting seaweed as part of there livelihood. They told us this is "Zanzibars gift from the ocean, our the miracle of the ocean” . The beautiful part is, 90% of the seaweed farmers are women.
Swahili Fish, a local restaurant right on the beach even the floor is still stand. The food was amazing, traditional food.
The funniest part of the trip was watching these kids dance along the beaches, doing the most craziest tricks and dance proformances. After school hustling.
The island is rich and abundant, in away money can't buy. The tropical fruits made our trip so healthy and wholesome.
